To know the unknown is an exploration of mixed Iraqi and British heritage, focusing on the fantasy and longing to know more about my Iraqi side and family. Through this series of self portraits the work uncovers the relationship been the British culture, the reality, and Middle Eastern culture, the fantasy.  As the fantasy and reality together collide within the image it creates a surreal feel of displacement. The act of engaging with two worlds empowers personal confusions about belonging and cultural identity.
